Welcome to Bryonscafe. The adventures of a rescued Beagle

Hellooo… Nice to meet you, I’m Bryon.
I’m a beagle mix that lives with my human Mom and dad along with two awesome felines. They are Kellycat and Tommy. Tommy cat is new ,he moved in August 2015. Since this beginning our sweet Princess has passed on and will forever be with us. I’ll be Posting pictures of us as I tell my story. Oh yea I have 3 human brothers That visit time and again.
My story begins June of 2013. I traveled from Alabama to Pennsylvania with a dog rescue Group. They brought me to Stroudsburg PA. The staff loved me and was very good to me.
A hair shop near by was hosting a benefit for the rescue I lived at. I attended the rescue with hopes of finding a home. During that hot June afternoon I was having a swim in the puppy pool when all of the sudden I looked up and a figure appears. His name was Bob. He was a coonhound spirit. Bob told me to choose the ma’s wearing the brown dress. He said she Needed me. I jumped from the Pool and ran over to my new mom and dad. That’s how my adventures began.
Ma’s signed the adoption papers , I said my good byes to the friends I made at the rescue and left with my parents.. First we went shopping for food and toys then to lunch in Downtown Stroudsburg. I was Allowed to join my parents At the table. The waiter served me first,I chose a big bowl Of water and a beef burger. After our meal , we headed to my new home in White Haven PA.
Wow!! Would ya look at this yard. ( Tail waggin’ and running) ” Is that a pool?  Can I jump in there? Whoa!! What are those pretty orange things throwing kisses and swimming around in the water . “Look Bryon,” “the fish like you,” the ma said
They are koi ,very friendly and curious. They are welcoming you .
“The orange one kissed my nose”. It startled me I almost fell in.
Where’s the dad going? I’ll follow him. O yeah check out that garden!! “Gourmet living”. Better head into the house where I slowly checked out the kitchen while ma set up my food and water. As she did that I headed to the dining room where I was surprised by a hissing tuxedo cat. “Hi ! My name is Bryon” “what’s your name”. We are Kellycat and Princess Cat .

While I adjusted to my new home my
ma got busy with all the important responsibilities a human parent has when bringing home a new fur baby.
Ma checked my microchip. She then
Updated all information about me includes my name ,address, telephone number. Then she ordered a license for me .
The license is through the county you live. Ma ordered it online then they mail it. This shiny tag identifies me and the court house will notify my parents if I am lost and found by a stranger.
She then ordered a new collar. This collar has my name and phone number embroidered into the top of the collar. Very easy to read should I get lost. Of course many pictures were taken.
Then I went with ma for a walk. She told me how we will go for a lot of walks. We went on a path behind our home. It was so pretty. I already feel my new home is forever.

To be continued.

My first week was hectic. I had to get use to the cats. They didn’t want to share my sleeping with the ma’s. Sometimes they would hiss at me and chase me around. But then they started to play . Mom came home with a laser light and all of us chased it around the room. Play time was a lot better. Yeah , they’re getting use to me. Ma asked Princess cat to teach me the ways of a dog. Kellycat is quite the chatter box and likes to sneak attack me.  They never hurt me. They actually like me. Kelly goes outside with me. We bask in the warm sun. We watch ma clean the koi pond. She cleans the filter to promote oxygen in the water. When she feeds the fish they come to her. There’s also two frogs that live in the pond. The frogs hang out and watch all the activity. They don’t seem to be bothered by anything. The plants are cool. They are cattails, water Lilly and cranberry.

I had my first health physical with our veterinarian .  Talk about being nervous!! There were so many Kinds of dogs and cats. Oh ! all the scents that are in the air, on the floor , everywhere. We  are called into the office , the technician takes my information and asks my ma if I have a chip.  My chip is from 24 Petwatch. The technician scans behind my ear and is identified. This chip is important . If I should become lost and someone finds me they can have my chip scanned which will  read who I  am and whom to call . Then I met the doc. He was really nice. I was weighed then my fur was checked along with my ears. They look for fleas, ticks and ear mites. I am clean..😁 Next they draw some blood to make sure I have no infections and that I am healthy. Dad had a poop sample. Poop samples are important. The doctor wants to make sure I don’t have parasites. I don’t have any !  yeah😁. Mom is given some medicine to give me at home. Then ouch they stuck me with a needle. Ahh, vaccinations. Ma told the veterinarian that we will be traveling and will need a record of my vaccines. Dad works at an alpaca farm and takes me along. So I had to have a vaccine that farm pets get. To all the fur babies that little sting is worth it to be safe and healthy. We check out and ma gets flea and tick prevention.  Happy to be back home. Time for sleep. Tomorrow is a big day.  Ma has to work tomorrow so, dad is taking me with him . He is a wood carver and also works at an alpaca farm.

Till next time.🌜

Let me introduce my feline sisters , Kellycat is the tuxedo and our precious girl Princess.

Princess has been living here a long time. She was found living  in the woods where ma used to work. She was wild and had to learn to live with her family. Princess is a great hunter. She shows me how to catch a mouse that came in . Kelly and I decided we would chase it, then dad caught it and returned it to the outside.  We spend many days running and playing.

I like going to the farm . There’s another dog that I play with. Her name is Shea.  We run the whole time . There’s a pond we can swim in and chase after the occasional geese.  But most of all we run.

On ma’s days that she doesn’t have work she takes me for walks along the Lehigh River in White Haven PA.

 Lehigh Gorge State Park.

We usually do 5 miles round trip and depending on the weather we do more or less. Ma’s has a list of what we do for our walk.

Make sure my flea and tick prevention is current. Check rope and caribeaner. Make the caribeaner is safe and intact. Ma’s uses a 25 ft rope so I have running range. She makes sure the rope is stong with no frays. I have to be on lead. If not my nose can get me in trouble and lost if I should chase a rabbit or my fave a squirrel.  Then she fills our water bottles . Oh yeah , she taught me to drink from a water bottle. Then the back pack is checked for bandaids and supplies. I have poop bags . Ma brings her phone for emergency and to take pictures.

We usually meet a lot of people walking with their pups along the way that live in the area as well as a lot from different states.

Ahh , your wondering if we see wildlife?. We do. We have seen deer ,rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, birds and once we saw a ma bear with 2 cubs. The animals stop and look then go about their buisness. No ,they won’t pose for pictures.  Back home I have dinner and fresh water then time to sleep .

 Welcome back! !

Well, I have aclamated to my home fast forward to present time. We have traveled many places . I’ll be Posting pictures of my travels .

August of 2015 dad found a little kitten that fit in a tea cup. Ma’s though the kitten was a female and named her Lilly. During our veterinarian visit the doc said Lilly was a boy. Lilly is now Tommy.

Tommy 8-15-16

Well I have  to say the house sure did liven’ up. Princess and Kelly play with and take care of Tommy. I like playing with him . Ma’s has us chase the red dot from the laser . We play a game called Don’t go off the carpet.

Hello !! So Bryan and I have really been hitting the trails. My son gave me a fitbit so I could join a get healthy program for my health benefits at work.

I joined the adventure challenge with my co-workers this spring. Our challenge is to compete against other teams through out the state by completing steps across America.  We started in New York  stepped our way to California.  Our team completed in 3 weeks. The challenge continues to hidden destinations.

I really am into my fitbit. It keeps track of steps, calories burned, exercise, heartrate, sleep, water intake. There are a few challenges I completed already. Seriously I would love to put a pedometer on Bryon. He probably doubles my steps that beagle loves to go. I believe he thinks he walks me and does not go off schedule.

Above is a shared link I found on Pinterest. The link takes you to an app called Achievemint. Check it out. Build up points and receive payment. I just started and increased my motivation.

I am not promoting the brand name for my fitbit. You can use any app on your phone which is how I started. I just love my fitbit, it increased my motivation and Bryon gets to take me out to walk.

The Toilet paper monster

I got it ma’s!! It was big white and fuffy.  Ever wake up and find your bathroom full of toilet paper that is shredded everywhere.

Tommy is a mighty defender of his castle. Appears he was busy all night and proud of his accomplishments.

Winter in March

Well, here in NE PA we had a winter storm totaling 36 inches of snow at our home in PA. Bryon loves to plow his way through the snow .

After my great jaunt Ma’s had to clean the snow off the koi pond so the water fountain flows to maintain circulation to the fish. Prior to the storm we had warm weather melting the ice from the pond and fooling the fish to visit the top. They’re all accounted for. Dear Fish, Ma’s and I will see you after the thaw.

Bryon travels to New York for a hike in the Shawanagunk Mountains.

Welcome back!  August 2016 we ventured on a road trip to the Shawanagunk Mountains in New York State.  We drove up Route I 84 from Pennsylvania to New Paltz NY.

My human parents used to bring my human brothers here to rock climb when they were man cubs.

It is so beautiful here. The hiking trails are clean and easily accessible . Ma said back when they used to come here there were a lot of climbers and very busy.

Today the weather was a misty rain but warm. A lot of new scents in the air and the ground.

When you come into the Mohonk preserve there is a fee for humans. Dogs are welcome and must be on lead. Please be sure your pal has his/her vaccinations. Bring plenty of water for hydration.  There is parking and rest rooms before going to the climbing /hiking area.

Wear good sneakers, hiking boots or climbing shoes and comfortable clothing.  Bring a camera.

We had a great day if you have the chance to visit this area do so.

Thank you for visiting Travels with Bryon and a place that we used to frequently visit with our boys.

Ponytail beanie or beanie??

Hi! It’s been a while since I was at Bryons cafe. We’ve been busy. Barry and I ventured out on  some road trips with Bryon this past summer.

I must catch up and post on Bryons adventures. That beagle loves to travel.

My favorite was Shawanagunk mts. New York State.  We used to rock climb with our boys . This time we visited with our beagle Bryon.

Back to the hats. I love to knit. I’m  self teaching myself  to become creative with my own patterns. I’ve always liked making hats. Kind of a madhatter. Beanies to stocking hats. As the economy became difficult during the holidays I asked God to help me find a way to earn extra income.  Low and behold He heard me. I got a call from a co-worker asking ” can you make a ponytail hat? ”

After researching knit and crocheted patterns for ponytail hats I created a hat. To my surprise I ended up with many orders. Talk about answered prayer and extra income for Christmas.  I’m still making hats and beanies. The pictures are of some I made and sold.

I love working with different yarns. Loops and Threads are one of my favorite to work with. Love the colors. As for knitting needles I use Deborah Norville brand which I order on ebay. I did receive a request for cotton and I really liked the cotton. White was the choice and a couple of those went off to a co-worker who tye-dyes . That beanie came out really nice.

Thanks for reading.  Lois
